AMD may have two tricks up their sleeve to compete against NVIDIA's new line-up of mid-range GeForce cards (e.g., GTX 1050/GTX 1050 Ti/GTX 1650/GTX1650 Ti). According to Wccftech, these are the Radeon RX 5500M and RX 5300M, which could have an edge on green team due to the 7 nm process.
The Radeon RX 5500M would go up directly against the GeForce GTX 1650, with 1408 cores (vs. 1024), a core clock of 1645 MHz (vs. 1560 MHz), and GDDR6 memory running at 14 Gbps (vs. GDDR5 at 8 Gbps). Benchmarks suggest the RX 5500M could be comparable to the GTX 1660 Ti in performance.
NVIDIA has yet to shift to a sub-10nm process, which means AMD has an excellent window of opportunity to strike while the metal is hot. AMD is planning to roll out mobility GPUs based on the 7nm process that will not only feature GDDR6 (giving them an advantage over competitors like the GTX 1650) but will actually out-clock NVIDIA!
