ASUS is planning to sell the higher-ended version of the ROG Ally, its new Windows 11 gaming handheld, for $699.99, according to various leaks that have appeared online, including what appears to be an early but genuine listing taken off of Best Buy's official website. This higher-ended version of the ROG Ally features the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, a new 8C/16T processor with 12 RDNA 3 compute units (CUs) that AMD designed for handheld PC gaming consoles, alongside a 7-inch FHD 120 Hz display, 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, and a 512 GB NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD. Valve's top Steam Deck model, in comparison, is $15 cheaper than the ROG Ally but only features a Zen 2 4C/8T CPU, GPU with 8 RDNA 2 CUs, and a 512 GB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD.

Just shows how much profit is built into the steam deck. That or initial development costs were just that high.
