ROG M.2 PowerBoost, a new feature that enables as many as seven M.2 drives to be attached to a single motherboard, is one of the key features that can be found on select ROG Z890 motherboards for Intel Core Ultra 200S series processors, ASUS has announced.

doesn't each additional drive just eat up pci-e lanes slowing things down?
 
It looks like they're taking half of the main x16 slot lanes and breaking those down into two PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slots. Boards that have secondary PCIe slots seem to disable these slots in order to feed the M.2 slots as you'd expect.
