Introduction

On our test bench, today is the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card (TUF-RTX3070-08G-GAMING). ASUS positions it above the KO and DUAL variants of the RTX 3070 and below the STRIX series RTX 3070 cards. The model that we are looking at today is the original version which is at the standard hash rates. The V2 of this card is the lite hash rate model but has identical gaming performance.

Metro Exodus chart 1440p appears to be different than the description, having the 6700 on top vice the 3070.

These games, or games selected in general run better with Nvidia Hardware. If doing canned benchmarks, more variety I would expect.

AMD RT is much better when the game is developed around the infinity cache, using DXR 1.1, using optimized Denoisers for AMD etc. Games developed for PS5 and XBox series X RT are running well with RNDA2 hardware and not so far apart from Nvidia. This can get rather specific for hardware design, either Nvidia or AMD and older games RT would be expected to tank with AMD hardware.

It is so hard now days to compare per price range GPUs, the reference 6800 for example would be cheaper and probably perform better, if going by MSRP (one of the very few lucky ones getting one from AMD Thursday's mornings at MSRP) vice the AIB 3070 at a much higher suggested price. Even the 6800XT. Mute point, it is clear if one can get a 3070 or 6700 for the same price, the 3070 in general would be better for gaming.

ASUS does make some very nice stuff, nice seeing reviews exploring these unique cards.
