This new machine is a replica of the Atari 7800 from 1986, a pivotal year in Atari’s history given it was their first machine to enable backwards compatibility.
But you don't even get to use something like save states!
"You do have to come to terms with the fact that this is still basically a form of emulation. Purists might scoff at the idea of running these games on anything but the true-blue system or even FPGA, but that’s beyond the scope of this console." (gizmodo)
Oh is it? Well I hope the emulation is accurate as all f*ck then. But if I am plugging real cartridges into a system, it needs to be either the real system or an FPGA version. Cuz I dunno, I'm leaning towards NES/SNES Classic being better emulation consoles (which is kinda sad cuz the emulation with the built-in emulators in those things ain't the best), and especially the Genesis Mini, since M2 did the emulation for that one.
