It’s been years since Atari originally announced the Atari VCS, its innovative PC/console hybrid, but the two-in-one system finally has a release date. According to a new feature by Game Informer, the Atari VCS will launch on June 15 and be available in two options: the Onyx Base System, which costs $299.99, and the All-In bundle, which comes in two colors (Black Walnut or Oynx) and includes both the Classic Joystick and Modern Controller for $399.99. I've got no intention of getting one, a little pricey but not horrible, but ultimately I'm happy they've been able to escape their Star Citizen phase of development.

LOL I thought this thing came out years ago
Like i said. Star Citizen Phase, even included Hotel Planning, I think they were trying to do some kind of crypto thing at one point too but I could be wrong on that one.

Probably runs off of one of those OEM XX00G processors none of us common folk can buy unless you go on the grey market.

Where the hell is Cyrix now? Throw a igpu on the M3 Jalapenos pronto!

Cyrix is still around in spirit, they were bought out by VIA 20+ years ago. VIA also bought Centaur tech, and merged the tech together. VIA partnered/merged/whatever and became Zhaoxin, and they make (crappy) cpu's for the China market, originally based on the old VIA/Cyrix/Centaur tech but has evolved since then.

From what I read the merger with National Semiconductor is pretty much what ended Cyrix. By the time VIA bought them, all the lead engineers were long gone.
