BIOSTAR has announced its first Radeon RX 6800 Series graphics cards, the Extreme Gaming Radeon RX 6800 XT and Extreme Gaming Radeon RX 6800. They appear to be almost identical to AMD’s own reference models in terms of aesthetics, but we’re seeing some GPU power differences in the specifications table.

BIOSTAR’s Radeon RX 6800 XT has a TGP of 255 watts, which is 45 watts less than AMD’s reference Radeon RX 6800 XT (300 watts). Likewise, BIOSTAR’s Radeon RX 6800 has a TGP of 203 watts, which is 47 watts less than AMD’s reference Radeon RX 6800 (250 watts).

Lower TDP design is ... unusual, unless you are shooting for something like a SFF silent build... which I don't think a triple-slot triple-fan card is.

I'd agree... What secret sauce did they find to lower the TDP and make the card as powerful?

Seems to me they ran it on their test bench and came up with those numbers. I doubt they are the reference numbers, that or they put in code in a custom bios to specifically prevent the huge spikes and bring the average power use down.
