BioWare’s new collection of Mass Effect remasters was supposed to be a wholly faithful endeavor, but it appears that there’s been a few changes beyond shinier graphics and improved controls. In an interview with Metro, project director Mac Walters revealed that the team opted to censor certain aspects of the game—namely, those low-angled, close-up butt shots of sexy Cerberus operative Miranda Lawson, which can be seen during certain conversations and cutscenes in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

“I do think a lot of things have evolved since [the original games] but I don’t know if I would say we were ultra-concerned about it or anything like that, but there were considerations,” Walters...

Hopefully @Dan_D is able to mod that butt back in ASAP.

I've only ever done texture mods in ME3. Fixing this would require shifting the camera during those scenes. It takes being able to modify the game's scripting to do that.

Having said that, the current ME3 tool set has expanded a lot since the last time I looked at it. There are many animation mods and fixes for ME3 as it is. Things like female animations for FemShep, etc. have been created. In fact, everything BioWare is trying to sell you for $60 has been done and then some. Granted, I think BioWare's lighting overhaul will be better as it implements DX11 features and the textures look like they are on par and probably better than a lot of the community ones. Although, some of them look about the same. Thane's for example are almost identical to the modded ones seen on Nexusmods.

I'll tell you this, if nothing else, I should be able to take all the textures in the Legendary Edition and port them over to the original version of the game. Between that and all the various mods like EGM, METIUM, MEHEM and others, it would represent the best and most definitive version of the game. That way you can get the cut content restored and a lot of things that people wanted to see added to the Legendary Edition in the vanilla game.

I'm actually setting up a modded and up to date install of ME3 this weekend so I have it when the Legendary Edition launches. That way, I can compare the two and see how the two versions really stack up. I still think the Legendary Edition will be worth it for ME1 and ME2, which aren't so heavily modded. ME3 on the other hand, I believe will be the other way around. That is, unless the mods work with the new version as is or can easily be made to do so.

That's a bridge too far!

Not really, because some of that stuff was awkward... but perhaps it should be a toggle instead of a forced change? 'Awkward' definitely helps define the atmosphere of many aspects of the trilogy!

Though in reality... her voice is enough dunno if I could handle 4k of dat a$$.

It does get old. On repeated playthroughs, I usually wind up skipping most of these parts, only slowing down for stuff that I enjoy more (which, okay), and stuff that I think I'm doing differently. Though I probably have done that before and just don't remember, and I spread playthroughs out specifically so that I do forget some of it and I can experience it again.

Still, given that I own these on Origin, I'm wondering if I shouldn't do a bit of a backup or otherwise try porting them to Steam...? I'm actually curious / worried that some of these politically-correct 'adjustments' might find their way to the online repositories of the currently released versions of the original trilogy.

Not being able to undo that would make me very, very angry.

Butt butt butt.... think of the children!?!

I will admit that Miranda is pretty hot for a computer game lady, especially one from a decade ago. One assumes it doesn't hurt that the model they based her on was also smoking hot (Yvonne Strahovski.... ie - Chuck)

Of course they make no mention of Jack who runs around 90% nude 100% of the time

I never wanted to work in retail it until chuck.

Hey! We've got the complete edition of Chuck on Blu-Ray. BTW, I didn't know that little tidbit about Yvonne. No wonder it seemed familiar to me LOL!

Yeahh, it made BB and CC cool again for the time. Such an awesome series other than the ending.

It's an ongoing concern. Never knowing what the current climate will stick to when it comes to changes. Always makes it worthwhile to have some offline master copies that's for sure.
