I just booked my flight, hotel and media pass to head out to CES in a couple of weeks. It seems that not all the vendors will be there, but most will - what have you guys seen out there on the interwebs that you'd like me to try to swing by and find out more about?

What next level components are coming that will be impactful to how we use our computers or consume digital assets?

Booth babes... are those still a thing?

A spotlight on something quirky and fun that may be a nothingburger.

If I already knew what to watch out for then it wouldn't be news worthy.

I'd like to know if anyone has some radical new case design and not the boring old stuff.

I'm interested in things that are different, and not chasing trends. Be it anything, any piece of hardware really but mostly cases and cooler designs.

I want to see more audiophile components.

Honestly, probably PCI 4 and 5 tech. We don't have much that can really use PCI 4 yet, apart from NVMe that just brings better benchmarks and some GPUs with token support - and in both cases neither really seem to present any real world benefits. And now 5 is out - would be nice to see what's out there planning on making use of it. Also, anything that hints as to the continuing evolution of USB/Thunderbolt: that probably has the most impact on my day to day life.

List of folks with booths here - https://www.ces.tech/Show-Floor/Exhibitor-Directory.aspx

New monitor/display tech? 4K stuff has really come along in the last year or two.

LG and Sony have Media Day events, with the former being invite only. Samsung will probably have a pretty big floor presence. I'll see about going to those.

The booth attendants in 2019 did not seem to meet your description....

CES Unveiled can be good for some of the quirky stuff - https://www.ces.tech/Events-Programs/CES-Unveiled.aspx

I'm sure I'll also get swarmed by folks wanting me to buy their bluetooth sunglasses in bulk to resell....

Some of the smaller Taiwanese manufacturers aren't attending - so that'll take some cases out of play from some of the known players. InWin will be there as will a handful of others. I'll make sure to peruse.

I'll go to the Intel and AMD presentations, booths and whatever events they cook up - they both had a pretty elaborate shindig two years ago. Not sure there will be much other PCI/Thunderbolt/other sorts of stuff announced here.

I always like to see some new case designs, monitors are also interesting.

Also haven't seen mcu new cool peripherals for some time.

Hmm.

I mean, LG's smaller 42" 4k OLED's are really interesting to me, particularly their burn-in resistance for desktop productivity work (window borders etc.), but chances are that won't be apparent from CES, but it might be interesting to hear what they have to say on the matter.

If there is anything to be seen on the Intel video card front I'd be curious. Otherwise as mentioned, some new stuff coming down the way for monitors would be cool.

I think most of us would be pleased with anything you have to share.

Everything points to a Q1 launch for the Intel video cards, so I'm hoping the announcement is at CES. They did have the DG1 on display two years ago running Destiny 2 @ 1080p on low settings... But... That's not quite where things need to be to compete.

I’m interested in:

Cases that can fill the void that Caselabs left - true super towers that logically fit multiple 420mm rads without having to go airflow series.

stacked vCache 5950

consumer SLC nvme storage

Video cards I can, uhh, buy?

I'm a sucker for new case designs and likely in the market for one soon (my current Lian Li PC-011 is a tad too thin for my hybrid GPU).

I want to see the booth of the most relevant players of late, the scalpers booth. Must be a huge booth too with all the money they made of late.
Seriously though have fun with it.
