Crucial has announced that its new T500 Gen4 NVMe SSD is available now in 500 GB (non-heatsink), as well as 1 TB and 2 TB capacities (either with or without a heatsink), on crucial.com and from leading retail and e-tail stores and commercial resellers worldwide. Described by Crucial as being "lightning fast," these are new M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSDs from the company that feature Micron's advanced 232-layer 3D NAND technology, offering sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and 7,000 MB/s, respectively. They also feature support for Microsoft DirectStorage, enabling what Crucial says is up to 16% faster loading times in select games. A 4 TB version of the T500 will be available later in 2024, while Crucial's fastest NVMe SSD appears to be the T700, a PCIe Gen 5 option that offers speeds of up to 12,400 MB/s.

Tell you what - I’ll settle with 6,500 MB/Sec in exchange for 25 microsecond latency.
