Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to play Grammy-winning musician and pop cultural icon “Weird Al” Yankovic in a new biopic for the Roku Channel.

Dubbed WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, the biopic was written by Yankovic himself along with Eric Appel, whose credits include Silicon Valley and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Appel will also be directing the project, which will offer insight on how Yankovic rose to fame with his parodies of popular music tracks, as well as his “famously depraved lifestyle.”

“When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. Yeah, I'd say it could be a toss up between him and Elijah Wood. Both have taken interests in some pretty wacky projects in recent years and it's been fun seeing them do it as well. Not ashamed to say that as a kid I bought more than one Weird-Al album.

Weird Al and They Might Be Giants were pretty much my awkward early teen years.

Nickelback didn't come until much much later.

I'll totally power-nerd on this and say I even had a copy of of the Atari songs on tape from the 80s. Back around when the VCS became the 2600 they had gotten so popular with Space Invaders and Pac Man they went so far as to release songs for them. God it was awful ;)

isn't Radcliffe too short to play weird Al?

Well, Cruise has 2" on Radcliffe.

Maverick is 5'7", Mr. Potter is 5'5"

While most internet stats list him at 5'7", it is widely agreed upon he is nowhere near that tall and wears lift shoes. Other actors in the past have put him in the 5'3 -5'5 range.... but for some "strange" reason no official quotes can be found on internet. In the 80's he is quoted at calling himself 5'9 which is not even close. Hollywood vanity is a strange thing, and since he is the poster boy for the organization which shall not be named, internet "facts" seem to get "corrected".

I believe you that Daniel is 5'5, he is not a big guy. He doesn't seem to care, he's a pretty laid back guy.
