So is there a team here on any of the projects?
If so by what name?
If not can one by started and what would the powers that be like the title to be?
 
I will occasionally join the bigadv challenge on the [H] team(don't remember actual name - usually late January) as I'm one that rage quit folding at the end of bigadv.

Not opposed to starting one here - may even be able to contribute some motherboards to the cause. Can also arrange for news posts to draw attention to it, and can publish some static info pages on it as well.

How do titles usually go?
 
I guess I was looking to see if there was or had been a DC team here.

I used to do SETI and Boinc years ago - but life in California I no longer can really afford the power to really be able to contribute much any more

Electricity here has just got out of hand

Yea even here in Texas I'm seriously considering when I do a cash out to put 40k toward solar with an back up battery that lets me run off grid when I make enough power.

I kind of like Team FPS.

TFPS for short.
 
I am just struggling with supporting a site that is defunct.
I really don't necessarily want to leave Anandtech, but why have a support a name that lends nothing to a site that has no backing.
I enjoy the articles and reviews of hardware here, thus I would be willing to help promote the site in the realm of the DC community.
As such, this is why I have been interested in joining or starting a Distributed Computing team here. I don't wish to overstep though and was looking for guidance or approval from the owner of this site.
I would not be "switching " teams till the new year but am being a bit proactive here.
Any guidance or encouragement from others on these forums and would be great.
 
I'd like to suggest that instead of switching teams entirely, we could simply rebrand our current team name to 'The FPS' across all active projects. This approach would create a smooth, seamless transition for everyone since no one would need to worry about remembering to update their team affiliation, and we'd maintain our continuity as a group.


What I really appreciate about this approach is that TeAm AnandTech's legacy would remain permanently preserved in the many historical and inactive projects where team names can't be changed. We're not erasing our history, we're honoring it while adapting to the circumstances. It's really just a rebrand that allows us to move forward together while keeping our team's achievements and memories intact.

Owner checking in here :).

I was big into DC/folding until the end of big adv, haven't really kept up since then. I am more than happy to support a team however possible.
 
Take the current logo. Replace The with TeAm. Replace review with Distributed Computing.
 
The TeAm, with the t and a capitalize was to be a representation of Team Anandtech.
I thing this should only be Team.
 
Well yes, but it wasn't the T and A that represented TeAm AnandTech. The first A and T in AnandTech was also used hence how we became known as TAAT.

However, using TeAm in TeAm FPS could be used as a homage to TeAm AnandTech the team we started with.
 
I like using TeAm for some of the history, and it might make the TeAm seem a little cRaY cRaY to those that don't and in the future won't know this history? :)

I don't mind that it makes the T & A stick out a bit either :)

Maybe the following has already been discussed at discord; I haven't taken the time yet to check.
a) It's OK with me personally.
b) Folks who don't watch the forum, nevermind discord, will be taken by surprise though.
c) I don't know if we can effect a change of the team name at foldingathome.org or at distributed.net.
 
Those who don't visit the forums or discord probably wouldn't even notice on BOINC either. In my opinion. But for now, while Anandtech forums are up if we switch now, then if they do notice and go to the AT forums they'll at least get answers. If it goes down, it might be difficult for them to know where to go.

We just need to get a hold of the founder of the team for f@h and then a name change should be possible. I don't know much, if anything about distributed.net however.
