505 Games and Kojima Productions have confirmed that the director’s cut of Death Stranding will be available for purchase on Steam and the Epic Games Store beginning on March 30.

Described as the “definitive” version of Hideo Kojima’s epic starring The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, Death Stranding Director’s Cut features a number of upgrades over the original PC release, such as support for Intel’s Xe Super Sampling (Xess) technology. Players can also expect new and expanded content, per the game’s subtitle.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut will launch for $39.99, but Kojima fans who already own the original version of the game will have the option of upgrading to the newer version for just $9.99. This offer is available for both the Steam and Epic Games Store versions of Death Stranding.

You mean the director's cut that the director had nothing to do with?

You mean the director's cut that the director had nothing to do with?
It's not like in the original game the "director" was unable to follow his vision, he was his own boss. So why wasn't that the director's cut?

This seems like a patch sold as a product, and it stinks.

Yes $10 for the upgrade if you own the game already. Still you are paying $10 for a patch. Don't normalize this ****, please.

Yeah, probably too late for that.

Some new AAA title releases for $60. Game is broken and doesn't work correctly.

Developer spends another year or two fixing the game then releases the same game, with a slight altercation to it's name for half the price if you didn't buy the "paid beta" or a little cheaper if you did pay for the beta.

I don't mind this so much.

The original game was complete. This adds better graphics and extra content, not the same thing at all as a bug fix. It's not a horrible price for what amounts to DLC content.

You can still play through the entirety of the original without paying anything extra if you wanted to, and you wouldn't miss out on the main story. If being a FedEx employee is your thing, that is.

It's not as good as free, I will give you that, but I don't think it's unreasonable. There are ~a lot~ of games that decide they want to charge full price, or near full price, for a "remaster". People here giving Crysis a pass on that, but slamming this, doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Black Mesa and Ion Fury had major updates that added a sh1tton to the games and fixed a ton of stuff, and those were free. Especially in the case of Black Mesa, that was basically a major overhaul of the game.

This and Control, No Mans Land, and Kingdom Come Deliverance are on my large list of games that I'll probably never get back to finish but paid full price for at launch and got various patches, sometimes DLC, and then something that costs extra added later. I liked some things about it but just not enough to keep playing and that Lindsay Wagner appearance was an awesome surprise but still not enough to draw me in.
