EA Announces Dead Space Remake, Developed by Motive Studios and Rebuilt on Frostbite Engine

Confirming recent rumors, EA has officially announced that Motive Studios is working on a remake of its classic sci-fi survival horror game, Dead Space. Completely built from the ground up using the modern Frostbite engine, Motive’s Dead Space remake will feature not only greater visuals, audio, and controls over Visceral Games’ original release, but an improved story, characters, and gameplay mechanics as well. EA and Motive haven’t revealed a release date for Dead Space yet, but the game is being developed exclusively for next-gen consoles and PC. A teaser trailer has also been released to give Dead Space fans an idea of how the visuals might compare to the original.

I'm looking forward to this, although I doubt anything can ever capture the tension of the original game.
 
Me too. I've had my doubts and still do but this little tidbit looks pretty awesome. It's still one of those games that even though I've memorized most of the scripted attacks I still get jumpy looking around corners or walking into rooms.
 
I just saw this on the RTX Instagram page. I guess that means it'll be getting some kind of ray tracing support.
