A group of veteran ex-employees from Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, LucasArts, Sega, and Sierra has teamed up to form a new company called New Tales. They refer to it as a “one-stop-shop publishing agency” with its own game developer and publishing studios.

Gaming has rarely seen such an exciting time, fuelled by tons of innovation and creativity. However, the frequency of new releases keeps rising rapidly, reinforcing the need for great international publishing. NEW TALES is a one-stop-shop publishing solution where we’re going to work with developers, as one united team, dedicated to maximizing success. We are also building our internal production capabilities to develop our own games and IPs. We are looking forward to joining forces with people who share our values and passion! -Cédric Maréchal (President and CEO)

I'll look forward to whatever IP they come out with first. Curious to see what it will be.

Wot? It is the exact opposite. New releases in franchises take more and more time:

Mass Effect 1 -> 2 years -> Mass Effect 2 -> 2 years -> Mass Effect 3 -> 5 years -> Mass Effect Andromeda -> 5 years -> a single jpg
Dragon Age Origins -> 2 years -> Dragon Age 2 -> 3 years -> Dragon Age Inquisition -> 8 years -> not even a jpg
GTA 3 ->1 year -> Vice City -> 2 years -> San Andreas -> 4 years -> GTAIV -> 5 years -> GTAV ->9 years -> not even a jpg
Tomb Raider -> 2 years -> Rise of the Tomb Raider -> 3 years -> Shadow of the Tomb Raider -> 4 years -> nothing, nada, zilch
Fallout 3 -> 2 years -> New Vegas -> 5 years -> Fallout 4 -> 3 years -> Fallout 76 -> 4 years -> nothing
Morrowind -> 4 years -> Oblivion -> 5 years -> Skyrim ->11 years -> a single background jpg

I doubt they ment in a franchise more like in general https://www.statista.com/statistics/552623/number-games-released-steam/

Seems like we see one of these stories every year:
"Big name developers from X, Y, and Z band together to form new studio which will change gaming forever"

The only one that I can think of in recent memory that has actually done anything: Kojima Productions / Death Stranding. And that was just one dude.
