So it would seem that 144Hz, 165Hz, or even 240Hz isn’t enough for some people so Asus had to go out and make a 280Hz panel. Maybe. TFT Central has reported on a Asus 280Hz panel being sold in Asia. It’s possible this may actually be someone’s typo and it’s merely a 240Hz panel. It’s possible this merely is a 240Hz panel than can be overclocked so don’t get too excited. The product listing is at Taobao and here’s some specs from the product page.
  • Size: 27″
  • Resolution: 1920×1080
  • Refresh Rate: 280Hz
  • HDR400
  • Color Gamut: 99% sRGB
  • NV G-Sync compatible & ELMB-Sync
  • Ports: 2xHDMI 2.0 and DP 1.2
  • Backlit IPS
  • Product Number: VG279QM
TFT Central did come across another product spec page that seemed to reiterate that this is a 280Hz while one part of taobao’s page did list 240Hz. Confused yet? For most even a i9 9900KS paired with a 2080Ti would likely still have difficulty reaching 280 FPS but hey CES is around the corner.

Edit: Sorry folks. I didn't realize that T.M. had posted on this story here the day before already. I've deleted it from the home page this morning.

I want the person who can tell the difference between 240Hz and 280Hz medically tested.

Yeah I have a 240 Hz monitor that I dearly love but I honestly can't say I see a different beyond 144. Sometimes I think I can but I think it's more the placebo affect.

OP, your 'TFT Central' and 'Taobao' hyperlinks don't seem to work.

Going from 60 to 144 is way more visually dramatic of a change than going from 144 to 240.

And even then it really comes down to pixel response times.

I've found my perceivable threshold to be between 110-144hz. When I went from 60 to 120hz it was huge. When I went from 120 to 144, barely noticable. At this point I won't even bother to go above 144hz.

There's a few vids out there where they blind tested pro gamers on 144 and 240 panels. Most of them could not tell a difference.
