In a surprising twist, EA is doing something unheard of with its loot boxes in FIFA 21. For a limited time, players will be able to preview their content before purchasing. The timing coincides with the Festival of FUTball and will end along with it on July 16. Preview Packs will be the only type available during this time and can be purchased using FUT Coins or FIFA Points. There is a step-by-step guide for using the new feature on The Pitch Notes support page.

Wasn't EA getting in trouble with their loot box policies in EU? I wonder how much of this promo is 'testing the waters' if they're forced to change their lootbox tactics.

I really don't get it. How is "Loot box you can see the contents of" any different than "online storefront"

I picture it working like this.

1. You preview loot box content.
2. It isn't what you like so you hit next.
3. Popup: you must purchase current loot box or wait 24 hours to preview the content of another loot box.
4. People curse EA but pay for ****ty loot box to preview the next one.
5. Rinse and repeat.
