A playtest for the upcoming Gotham Knights game briefly appeared on Steam. It was removed, but not before one lucky person was able to play it. Reddit user SuspiciousTension19 spotted it and said the base install size was 82.41 GB. It is not known who had tried playing the beta.

Over 80 GIGABYTES. Heavens to betsy!!
Hey, I still remember how it was only around 3-4 years ago, and people we're b***hing about things going over 40-60 GBs. Times have changed that's for sure.

I think your memory is off a bit timewise

Sizes do seem to depend on the source you are looking at
Too true. It was closer to 5-6 years ago we really started seeing the 40 GB limits consistently shot. I remember when Witcher 3 came out and many complained about that at around 51 GB. I just did a quick search limiting articles from Jan 2018 to Dec 2019 and there were a few referencing 40 Gb but 100 GB had started to become the norm then. The links you provided are mostly games over the last 2-3 years and we're rapidly approaching over 150 GB for installs.

Here's an article from 2018 that talks about the growth from 40 GB to upwards of 100 GB.

On the flipside. Should the install size for Gotham Knights indeed be 82.41 GB gamers should rejoice as it could've easily been double. Cue the facepalms for us all. ;)
