A class-action lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleges HBO of sharing subscriber viewing history with Facebook. The lawsuit was filed in New York on behalf of two subscribers, Angel McDaniel and Constance Simon, by law firm Bursor & Fisher. It accuses HBO of violating the 1988 Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA).



The VPPA came about after a Washington Post reporter was easily able to obtain the video rental history of Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork in 1987. I hope they absolutely kill them in court, and add extreme punitive damages on top of it.

**** like this won't end unless it starts hurting companies in the pocket book.

And I mean REAL pain. Like "It wiped out all our corporate profits for the last decade" pain.

As much as I'd like to see that, it'll probably be nothing more than a postcard mailed to your residence asking you to sign up for your 30 cent check. ☹️
