Here is my poem to Kojima

They said Kojima was a genius game designer,
So, I tried MGSV and saw it was a junker.
Then, they said: yeah, but MGSV is not a true kojima game
(despite his name popping up in bold letters after every scene)
So, I tried Death Stranding and lost my mind again.
Then, I swore I'm not trying any Kojima game ever again.

I've only ever liked two of his games. The dude and the sh1t he makes is NOT for me. I hear about new games of his coming out, and it goes in one ear and out the other. I forget the dude even exists until his name pops up. He's not a real game designer anyways. Like David Cage, he wanted to make movies, but couldn't make it in that field, so he settled for trying to live that dream through video games instead. But at least he doesn't badmouth video games and dismiss them as "lesser" entertainment like David Cage does. Kojima forgets though that video games need to have actual gameplay. That's what makes them video games.

At least David Cage makes good interactive movies. But Kojima deliberately makes weird things and deviates from norms just to be edgy. And his fans tout it as genius, when it is just annoying and immersion breaking.

Yeah, I tried to get into the first game, haven't really, knowingly, played any of his other games but this one was enough for me to back off. Tried a couple of times to get back into it and that didn't last more than 5 minutes for each attempt.

I regretfully wasted 6 hours on Death Stranding hoping it would get better, but it didn't. What's really annoying is that there is a good game somewhere there buried under all the Kojimatisms.

I agree and about the same amount of time put into it before giving up.

So wait.... a walking simulator on the beach? Let me guess... only one pair of footprints?
