Laptop vs desktop for gaming and content creation, how are you all managing this?

Hey everyone,

So I've been debating whether to go all-in on a desktop build for gaming and content creation or just stick with a powerful laptop. I do a fair amount of travelling for work so a desktop isn't always practical, but I also don't want to compromise on performance when I'm gaming at home or editing video footage.

I recently picked up an i7 laptop from Techyest and honestly the performance has been way better than I expected for AAA gaming at 1080p, I was getting solid frame rates on titles like Cyberpunk and Microsoft Flight Simulator without too much thermal throttling. That said, I know a desktop with the same budget would absolutely destroy it on raw performance.

For those of you who game seriously and also travel or work on the go, do you run both a desktop and a laptop, or have you found one powerful laptop that covers everything? Would love to hear how people are managing this tradeoff!

I've stopped gaming when traveling. Have a personal laptop still and use it for discord and social media and such on the road. But nothing beats 4k gaming at home on a 42 inch screen. :)

I concur.

I don't really do much gaming while I'm traveling, but I do have a mid tier gaming laptop. It can play older games, but that's about it. It's just for discord/email/work.

Nothing beats gaming at home on three 27" 4K displays.

So basically, if you need to use a computer for while traveling then spend the money on a cheap one, but spend most of the money on a capable desktop.
