LG Display has provided some updates regarding its gaming monitor business, and with it comes the news that the company behind the Ultragear brand has begun full-scale mass production of a 27-inch QHD gaming OLED panel that is capable of delivering refresh rates of up to 480 Hz, a number that LG says is the highest refresh rate among existing OLEDs on the market.

I just can't get excited for anything display under 32".
I've been at 27" for a few years, and before that I was on 16:10 24" for almost a decade. I'm over it. I mean sure, 1440p at 27" with a sitting distance of about 2 feet works great, with just the right pixel density. But when I jump to 4K I'm definitely gonna need something bigger, and 32" is the bare minimum for that. 16:9 27" just does NOT feel large enough. I'm definitely ready for larger. I got friends rollin' with 42" or 48" LG OLEDs as their monitors. And some friends have been using giant HDTVs as primary displays (not even secondary) since the late 2000s. One of my friends is currently using a ****ing 77" C2 or C3 as his primary display.

Since 2015, I've used a 48" and a 49" Samsung TV and an Alienware 34" prior to the Acer 43" CG437KP I use currently.

Prior to that I was using 3x30" Dell 3007WFP-HC's. I got my first 30" in 2007 or 2008. I've been using larger displays for almost a decade. Dropping to 27" doesn't appeal what so ever.

Yep, I finished using 27" displays on my desktops around 2016 or so after I got a 31.5" LG IPS 4K monitor. Since then I tried the 49" CRG9 and that was fun for a bit but have really gotten used to enjoying the 42" C2 and otherwise 65" T.V.'s that have been in the cave. At this point for the desk, I'm happy with 32-42" but wouldn't go smaller.

Here's the wingnut request. What I would really like is a 40-42" 21:10 4K OLED/120-140Hz/G-Sync/HDR1000 display. Been dreaming about something like that ever since getting the laptop in my signature.

So you want an LG OLED C3? Because that's exactly what I have.. though the refresh is only 120 hz. It hits everything else. Wait.. I don't know that it is 21:10. It will do 21:9.

I don't know that it is 21:10
SInce they don't seem to exist I've been doing some research over the last year or two and I think it actually breaks down to 2:1 but I'm not positive.

A lot of gaming laptops came out in 2024 with a 16:10 1440p variant of 2560x1600, the Acer Predator I have has that and it's pretty awesome. I thought about 32:10, so in this case 5120x1600 but I'm not that enthusiastic about ultra-wide after having spent time with a CRG9. For that, 2:1 would be 3200x1600 which could be the sweet spot. As far as a 4K version goes, 4320x2160.
