LG’s German branch has revealed the pricing and availability of its 2021 OLED TVs, which comprise B1, C1, G1, and Z1 models, as well as the all-new, budget A1 series. The cost of the A1 lineup actually remains a mystery, but we do now know that one of the cheaper entry points will come in the form of the 55-inch B1 model, which has been listed for €1800. That comes out to around $2,100.

“LG’s first 83-inch OLED TV, in the C1 range, will cost 8000 Euro and be available in June, but the good news is that the 77-inch C1 will drop to 5300 Euro (starting price was 7000 Euro last year for CX),” FlatpanelsHD noted in its coverage. “A less expensive 77-inch OLED TV will be available in the B1 range, at 5000 Euro. LG B1 and LG C1 will be available in April (except the 83-inch C1).”

No big loss for the pricing on 8K but here's hoping that they expand the streaming apps to include HBO Max soon. Presently they are still one of the last to do so and it's a shame considering how much is going on there this year with theatrical releases. Granted, you can still plug something in to get it but it's always nice when you can eliminate a remote. I can verify that the older 2019 C9's support DV with the NVIDIA Shield when WW 1984 came out. Also able to watch Disney+ with 4K DV and Atmos connected to an Onkyo receiver which is nice. Hopefully, that trend continues with the next CX line. That 83-inch sounds interesting. Once you get into the 75-inch range, or beyond, projectors become largely obsolete for many but pricing becomes a bottom-line issue.

I think I read Samsung has an exclusivity with ATT/TW for the native TV HBO max app... which sux.
Didn't know that. I recently bought a 75" Android Hi-Sense from BB for around $500 during BF just to avoid all that BS. We love it.

Yeah I’ve been watching HBOMax through the PS4 - which doesn’t support anything fancy. Not that I have the bandwidth, but at least items like Prime and Netflix will give me HDR at 1080 when my ISP isn’t choking.

I get what that's like. We live within a few blocks of a Comcast CO now but before that, we were in the countryside dealing with bandwidth not much better than dial-up. It's now something I think about when we think about moving again. We both want to go back to the countryside but there's always issues.

I have to add that now it's a different world for content. Used to be whether or not you could get things with an antenna or even a dish, then cable, now just a decent ISP is the trick. The targets keep moving but the game is the same and in the end, the T.V. depends on hitting those targets. Doesn't help that physical media is in the decline so securing what you can for streaming is the only way to get the best for your t.v.'s non-gaming potential.

what one is the CX replacement? Same for Samsung, what is the Q80 replacement?

@THUMPer,
CX will be replaced by C1. It's hard to make a comparison on price from a European site to US dollars - 55" C series MSRP has drifted down over the past few years: The C7 listed MSRP at nearly $3,000 when it first came out in 2017, the CX more recently MSRP'ed at $2,000 last year. Both had dropped to around $1,200 by Black Friday sales of their release year. I would be shocked if the MSRP for the C1 went up rather than down, as it's not expected to be a huge upgrade from the CX.. although they are trying to align a new budget option in the A1, so maybe they do readjust the price tiers... But they have all be pretty consistently priced with regards to the floor the price drops to by around Black Friday, regardless of the release day MSRP.

Not sure on Samsung side.

Take out the VAT and pricing looks to be similar to the 2020 X series. No surprises there.

@Armenius , I'm not happing at about the potential death of physical either. Downright depressed about it actually. However, according to this article from the Digital Bits the numbers really don't look good.

The good news is that they're still being made but the question is for how much longer. Since nothing seems to exist for 8K yet I have my doubts about what's happening next. Here's hoping they can get costs down and manufacturers reinterested in making more players but for the moment, it's not looking good. I always say that if you care about it, buy it, don't just stream it but that can't happen if they don't sell it. There's a number of shows I've streamed in 4K only to see them downgraded to Blu-ray when they finally got released. Not a good trend.

I don't think they get downgraded in any way, seeing as how 4K streams are only 25 Mbps with audio. Seems like releasing on standard Blu-ray would actually be an upgrade.

That's true if the original source is 1080p but from Netflix to Amazon and the now-defunct DCU to VUDU there's a number of things that exclusively stream in 4K w/ HDR. Granted the stream bit-rates may match for a BD release but if a physical 4K with a higher bitrate was available it'd sure be nice. For DCU, Titans and Doom Patrol were originally 4K/HDR. On Amazon, there's the true Directors Cut of Wrath of Khan in 4K/HDR. On VUDU I've got X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue cut in 4K/HDR and Iron Mask-the same. Netflix, well that's a whole other story and the jury's still out what will become of Disney+ stuff but both stream many things in Dolby Vision/Atmos and I definitely wouldn't want BDs of those. Even CBS All Access has some things in DV that got downgraded on BD.

My greater point is that we're losing the choice of getting something as close to its source as possible.
