Malaysian authorities recently seized 1,069 mining rigs after a raid. After arresting eight people involved in the operation, they steamrolled the rigs into oblivion. Mining operations have led to power outages and even house fires in Malaysia. The arrestees were accused of having stolen roughly $2 million worth of electricity.

Authorities in the city of Miri in Sarawak, Malaysia seized 1,069 rigs from miners alleged to have stolen electricity for their operations, per a report from local publication The Star. The devices were seized in a joint operation between Miri police and Sarawak Energy Berhad between February and April, and have an estimated value of RM5.3 million ($1.25 million USD), according to the outlet.

I'm sure some environmentalists are all aghast that these just didn't get recycled...

...but this is infinitely more satisfying to watch.

Reminds me of:

Well you can't resell them considering it will just end up with other miners and these can't really be used for anything productive as they are anyway.

They could have given them to schools or something to be used iso crushed.

That makes no sense to crush them. Recycle, re-purpose. What a waste just to make a point.

Look at the picture. Those were asic based miners. Not pcs with video cards. They would suck at any other task.
