Micron Discontinues Crucial’s Ballistix Gaming Memory

Enthusiasts who own some of Crucial’s Ballistic memory modules might want to hang onto them for collectible and/or sentimental purposes, as parent company Micron has decided to pull the plug on the prevalent and long-standing gaming memory brand.



Launched nearly two decades ago, the Ballistic brand is suddenly being terminated, according to a press release from Micron, which can confirm that Crucial’s Ballistix, Ballistic MAX, and Ballistic MAX RGB lines are being EOLed. The decision seemingly marks the end of Crucial having a gaming segment in its portfolio of memory and storage products.



“We remain focused on growing our NVMe and Portable SSD product categories, which both offer storage solutions for PC and console gamers,” said Teresa Kelley, Vice President and General Manager, Micron Commercial Products Group.

I used to use Crucial stuff back in the day, but I haven't gotten any of their RAM products since I was running a Abit VP6
 
One of the first computers I built myself had Crucial Ballistix Tracer memory in it. Loved that stuff! My recent build has the 16GBx2 3600 Ballistix in it... Guess next build it will be something else.
