I hate to sound like a broken record, but here goes...

Quite frankly, 12GB/s sequential speeds vs, Gen4's 7GB/s sequential speeds doesn't excite me much.

Show me the low queue depth 4k random reads.

If they get close to, or beat 4 year old Optane DC p5800x figures, THEN I'll be impressed :p

I wonder if they'll start improving other metrics, especially for enterprise SKUs (or at least those at first), now that they're getting relatively efficient controllers. Overclocking PCIe 4.0 controllers was never going to be as performant or as efficient as actually needed.

Not really holding out hope for an Optane competitor though. Perhaps the technology will start converging over time, but the price per byte has to plummet before it starts really making sense IMO.
