Optimization plays a large factor in how a game performs on a particular platform. Be it on the PC or console, optimization affects the gameplay experience. The current generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony saw an interesting dynamic arise. While a particular console may be technically more powerful than its rival, that does not guarantee a better experience. This can often be attributed to better optimization.
