The Surface family is getting bigger next year. London-based global information provider IHS Markit says Microsoft will be releasing a dual-screen, 9" variant during the first half of 2020.

The foldable Surface will be powered by an Intel 10 nm Lakefield SOC and run Windows Core OS (WCOS), a modern version of the operating system that aims to keep the Windows experience consistent on different devices. Android apps and Apple's iCloud service are supported.

The device also features always-on connectivity via LTE or 5G.

Windows Central and The Verge reported early this year that Microsoft is preparing a dual-screen mobile device and more recently showed Microsoft demonstrating a dual-screen Surface.

Devices makers are expected to turn to foldable designs in the coming years as they strive to move mobile devices beyond long-established single-screen products.

Interesting. Android app support certainly makes the tablet mode of the device more useful.

I always used to say that I would embrace these devices some day. If I was going to buy a tablet, it' better be a full featured PC.

I can't see myself using Windows though. I wonder if it would run Linux, and if there are any good touch UI's for XFree.
