Microsoft's Surface team may have boarded the Ryzen hype train. According to WinFuture, 15-inch variants of the Surface Laptop 3 will be powered by AMD's new Zen 2-based CPUs. The previous generation featured Intel's 7th Generation Core processors.

This switch would be a big win for the company due to the popularity and prestige of the Surface line. Three 15" models will supposedly be available, possibly with the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H and Ryzen 7 3750H ("quad-core SoCs with integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU, which offer maximum clock rates of 3.7 and 4.0 gigahertz and are manufactured in 12-nanometer scale").

It is still unclear whether Microsoft might also offer the 15-inch model, at least as an option, with Intel chips, but we do not have any relevant information yet. Instead, you put at least the new Surface Laptop 3 15 fully on AMD.

Welp .. AMD and Microsoft are already in bed together with the XBox One's ..and future XBox roll out .. only makes sense. Good companies to be in bed with each other ... :sneaky:

AMD has long had a problem with OEM's putting their processors in decently designed systems. While HP has done well with their ProBook G6, it isn't nearly as mass-marketed a device. Getting into the Surface Laptop is a huge win.

Awaiting the Intel slide show on how the AMD chips are not as powerful, no one uses laptops, it's not a priority for them, yada yada yada.
