Mortal Kombat’s Greg Russo to Write and Direct Live-Action System Shock Series

Greg Russo, one of the screenwriters responsible for Warner Bros.’ 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, has been hired to not only write, but direct, the upcoming live-action series based on LookingGlass Technologies’ classic first-person cyberpunk adventure, System Shock.



The news was shared by Deadline today, which was also the first to reveal back in October that the System Shock series would premiere exclusively on Binge, a gaming entertainment streaming platform that allows users to earn rewards just by watching its content.



Russo is also working on two other video game adaptations—Space Invaders for New Line and Warner Bros., and Saints Row for The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray—according to Deadline’s coverage.

Nightdrive studios still has everything to prove. The System Shock remake that was supposed to be released years ago still has no concrete release date. So fantastic team? I don't think so.

Also what is this getting carrots for watching it? That sounds horrible. I want to watch sg because it is good. Not because I get rewarded for it. This is insanity.

Yeah that remake hasn't surfaced yet, but almost all the remasters Nightdive has done have been f*cking awesome. Those devs and the work they've done with their KEX framework have been nothing short of amazing.

On the side note: a Saints Row project in the works ?!? Could be fun but really seems like it should be a James Gunn project IMO. A Space Invaders project, that theme has been done to death and no matter how little they spend on it, it will likely fail.
