Mortal Kombat 1 Launches for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in September 2023

Warner Bros. Games has announced that Mortal Kombat 1 will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 19, 2023. Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat 1 introduces a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by Fire God Liu Kang that features reimagined versions of iconic characters as they’ve never been seen before, including Kitana, Mileena, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero, according to an official announcement trailer that was released today that contains no gameplay footage but plenty of violence. Mortal Kombat 1 will be available for pre-order starting Friday, May 19.

Ah okay, so I was right, this still follows the events of MK11 it looks like, and like MK9 they are doing a reboot while still keeping the previous timelines canon. I'm still waiting on a good deal for 11 so I can grab the game with everything that ever came out for it for a super-cheap price, same as I did with MK10. MK11 was still using a modified version of Unreal Engine 3 same as the previous two games, so I wonder what engine they will be using for 12 (yes I'm still gonna call it 12).
