A newly refreshed version of the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT GAMING Z TRIO 16G has been spotted on an overseas retailer site. In turn, other refreshed Radeon RX 6800/6900 GAMING TRIO Series cards have now been spotted on the U.S. and Japan MSI sites.

The updated card now has a higher boost clock at 2310 MHz along with a new aluminum backplate upgrade. The previous backplate material was made from graphene. The card features 4,608 stream processors, a 2065 MHz game clock, and 16 GB DDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus.

It is a high-end model of the “Radeon RX 6800 XT GAMING X TRIO 16G” that we have delivered detailed verification before , and it is characterized by the boost clock being raised from 2,285MHz to 2,310MHz. In addition, the back plate material has been changed from graphene to aluminum to improve strength and cooling performance.–via...

Sure, if I can find one I will buy it. I could probably sell my midnight black and pay for more than half of this one.

They have these at the local MC but I don't know if they are these new revisions.

I have been considering the 6800 xt

I had a couple of MSI links in the story. Might be worth it to look for a SKU. I don't remember seeing any off the top of my head but maybe there were. However, I've got a feeling these haven't actually shipped yet because Feb will be the 1 year anniversary for the 6900 XT and that's probably when they'll appear. TBH it was kind of weird that MSI didn't more formally announce the revisions. There's a bit of a PR in Japan but that was about it.

I've had two Gaming X models (2080 Super and a 3090): I quite liked those beefy boys, but always thought it was weird MSI used a plastic backplate (or whatever material it was) and not aluminum for their high end Gaming X series. I heard they fixed this with the Gaming Z revision.

aka Nvidia availability.
Not really. If we were talking about getting the cards at their original MSRP's, the 6900XT was a bargain compared to the RTX 3090. At the time I bought my card the AMD Radeon RX 6900XT's were basically impossible to get or cost just as much as NVIDIA cards via scalpers. Now, having said that I primarily opted for NVIDIA as I had a G-Sync only display at the time and knew Cyberpunk 2077 required DLSS to run at decent frame rates when running at 4K. Now I've got a display that does FreeSync and G-Sync. Ray tracing performance is still something I'm interested in, but in my opinion it really only matters in that one game.

Otherwise, I'd be absolutely fine rocking a watercooled 6900XT.

I have seen some of the new ones popping up on Amazon about a week ago. I could tell by the backplate images and the mention Gaming X Trio. That was something mentioned in those overseas leaks. The new ones have a slightly different design. They were also listed as new products.

-Scratch that clocks don't match those reported in the overseas story. However, that 6900XT listed below does.

Edit: Ironically enough paying around $120 more gets you the 6900XT Gaming Z Trio.
