NVIDIA has reportedly embraced the world's most popular post-processing injector. According to VideoCardz, next week's driver update will bring ReShade support to GeForce Experience, allowing users to "tap into hundreds of filters."

The purpose of this tool is to enhance the viewing experience in many popular games by adding (often missing) features such as SMAA antialiasing, screen-space ambient occlusions, etc., or by adding vibrant colors to ‘faded’ titles. It is hard to say how will this affect the popularity of the ReShade Project.

I've never understood the popularity of most of these. They tend to just make the game super dark, super grainy or do other weird things.

I see them used to stage screen shots a lot. Apart from that occasionally there are some neat effects, and some of the more subtle effects can go a way for image quality, but they can go overboard very quickly.

About the same as the bajillion photo filters that are on every phone camera app these days. Fun to play around with, but the exaggerated ones are not something you use everyday.
