Nvidia driver crashing with newest drivers and monitor DP port when More than 1 monitor used.

Watched the video 👎 NVIDIA, this generational launch has been a disaster.

OMG ... this explains a lot. I've been getting random crashes recently and have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have three monitors connected to the three DP output ports on my EVGA 3090Ti. I was only running one monitor when I last updated drivers, but have since added two more relatively inexpensive sidebar monitors. The trouble started out of the blue, not correlated to any obvious upgrades or software updates. I've ruled out system memory, SSD integrity, and Windows install. I did not think to check Nvidia drivers. I was concerned and was thinking of checking CPU thermal paste and AIO fluid levels, but have not gotten that far yet.

I will try rolling back video drivers to see if the random crashes stop.

I'll count myself lucky. So far the only crashing issues I've had are with the Half-life 2 RTX demo. Other than that everything else has been the same as always. Also recently have been experimenting with letting the NV app handle driver updates. I still manually tell it to do them but having it handle them. Also stopped doing fresh installs as of 572 drivers just to see what would happen. Not something I normally do, been doing fresh installs for the better part of a decade or more, but was curious given all this stuff. So far, so good with my 2 rigs and laptop.

I've been using the Nvidia App (now from the Microsoft App Store), and it hasn't been prompting me to upgrade drivers - so it looks like I missed this one.

The Nvidia App always updates itself when I launch it (infrequently). Not sure if that's why I'm not getting driver release notices.

It doesn't necessarily prompt me but there's an exclamation or something by the driver section on the top left, so I just click on it and if it has an update available I then click on that. Painless and saves me the time of going to the site for a manual download and having to pick the right one for my card (not sure if that really matters but I always use to make sure that I did).

If you like ease of upgrading on an unrelated note try out the winget command in PowerShell. Winget -upgrade will tell you all the software on your system that you can upgrade from the default MS GitHub repository. Then winget -upgrade --all will download all of them that it can. Sometimes if it's in use it will fail that one, and some require specific commands to upgrade., Also when redoing your system getting those winget upgrade commands in a text file then just downloading from the repository with a PowerShell script is super nice.

I just tried this, and my jaw dropped. It's pretty neat. It picks up all sorts of stuff.

Yea I don't remember where I learned about it but I've been sharing it with everyone I can. Now I do use a pro license for windows so I'm not sure if that is required.

Winget is Microsoft's attempt at a Linux-like software repository. It's still pretty quirky but does function at the basic level.

Hmm, been having some random crashes with apex legends and avowed, and also thae latest app version removed the apps desktop shortcut for some reason.
