NVIDIA has shared an unboxing video of its latest flagship GPU for those of you who can’t wait to get your hands on one. While we’ve all seen renders of the GeForce RTX 3080 by now, the video gives us a better idea of what it looks like in person and how big it might be relative to someone’s hands.

The GeForce RTX 3080 comes in a modest, gray box with a slanted-line motif. Lifting the top reveals the graphics card in all of its matte-black, silver glory (we’re assuming that the card comes in protective wrap, but NVIDIA removed it for the purposes of this video).

We also get a decent look at the 12-pin power connector, 2x 8-pin to 12-pin adapter, and display connectors (HDMI 2.1, 3x DisplayPort 1.4a). The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 will be released next week (Thursday, September 17) for...

NVIDIA actually said preorders would go live next week, though I think it is just getting in line like they did with Turing back in 2018. Your order may be filled in a few days or take a few weeks to ship.

The only thing I don't care for is the 12 pin placement. Maybe the third party cards will be able to improve on that?

The FE PCB design is unique to NVIDIA, and the 12-pin was created due to its compact size. None of the AIB manufacturers are using it, so you won't see the 12-pin being used on their cards.

One of the unboxing videos I watched (didn't recognize the youtuber, young british guy), the presenter plugged the adapter into a standard PSU extension cable and it looked awful.

I'd find the video, but currently at work and supposed to be working.
