Well, the answer to that is the price of the super series and the release date of the 5000 series. If the 5080 isn’t showing up until Q4 2025, then a 4080 Super at 899 would be an amazing purchase.

A 5080 Q4 24 with a 1299 4080 super says just hold out

I've got a 3080Ti and I'm right on the cusp of feeling that upgrade bug. for some reason I thought the 5 series was coming out early 2024 so I'm a bit bummed about the Super. I know it's not going to be cheap enough to get the 4080 Super then the 5 series without feeling like I'm just wasting money. If I can afford to build a new computer when the 5080 drops I could probably justify it. I hate it when they don't make it easy.

I was fully intending to skip the 4000 series due to the silly pricing here in Europe but reading that the 5000 series might only launch in 2025 and seeing I could use the extra HP for my ultrawide I got a 4080 on "sale", now I just kinda hope the rumours are true
