The RTX 40 series rumor mill never sleeps and this time around it has reportedly given us TimeSpy test scores for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060. The x60, and x70...

Will my mighty 1080ti finally get upgraded? Time will tell. Sounds like my power supply would get a workout though.

Such great cards. I only just retired mine last year along with the 2600K.

Such GPU! Most videocard!

More seriously though, yeah. the 1080ti sure had some staying power.

I had the Pascal Titan X, which was essentially the same give or take, but came out 7 months earlier.

I still can't believe that when I retired late last year, it had been in my main machine for almost 5.5 years. That is definitely a record for me.

I mean, in the past my GPU habits used to be on the 6moths to a year interval. Less frequent in recent years, but still!

This 6900xt won't be around for that long. That is for sure.

Between my two desktop rigs, I went through more GPUs in the last 5-6 years than I care to admit to but I will say that I'm happy with the 3090 Ti's that are now in both. With DLSS they can do upwards of 120 FPS for most of the demanding games I play at 4K and still hold 60-80 for the tougher ones with minimal compromises. I'm pretty confident that I'll be skipping ADA.

The only upgrade I'm planning on will happen when I retire the ol' 4930K. I'm really starting to see some bottlenecks with that older architecture but it's still chugging along. That 6c/12t @ 4.3 GHz CPU has had issues with some modern games. It's been an awesome ride with it though. I bought a Gigabyte UD3 X79 board for it back in the day (8+ years?) in order to be able to adapt to a number of then present and future ideas and it's been awesome. I've done more different configurations with that rig than any other that I've ever made/owned and introduced me to the concept of a HEDT setup. Seriously that thing was a borderline server/media-management/gaming rig.

I'm thinking I'll probably take advantage of what hopefully is a softer GPU market next generation and get the top end Nvidia product (unless there are any nasty surprises at launch) and then hold on to it for a while.

The 6900xt, especially mine with the custom power stage design and water block has been fun to play with, and has scored quite awesome becnhmark results, but it hasn't been the most consistent, and with RT becoming more and more the norm, I want to have something that can sort of handle it.

ONe thing is for sure. I am going to eat it on the price of this thing. There is no way I'm getting anywhere near my $1700 back.

I bought my Pascal Titan X at launch in August 2016 for $1199, and sold it for $500 in late 2021. Definitely got my moneys worth out of that one. Who knows if I can even sell the 6900xt, seeing that it is a water block only card. That certainly limits the market.

I might just build a mini water-loop and stick it in my stepsons rig... It should be a decent upgrade over his current 2060S.

I wouldn’t count on next gen being too soft. Nvidia is holding back current gen cards from partners so they can clear out current stock in preparation for next gen. Nvidia knows the crypto gravy train is over for now. Hopefully it never comes back.

I agree with this -- nVidia won't release the 4k series until they have milked everything out of the current gen they can. Yeah, they'll have to eat a bit of loss this late in the game, but writing off a bit on the tail end of what was otherwise a record-breaking generation for sales ("We can't tell how much was crypto" my @$$) is a lot better than starting out a new generation in a soft position.

Same here. Don't see a reason to upgrade from my 3090 Ti until it starts to show signs of age.

Only reason I'm considering an upgrade is due to the additional features a Nvidia card offers.

Yeah, if I had a 3090Ti I probably wouldn't be considering an upgrade either.

I love AMD and all, but Nvidia is really better at the "evil corporation" game than AMD is, twisting the market to use features that are either proprietary to them or don't run well on the competition, whether they are actually needed or not. In every title I have tested, I can barely tell the difference even side by side, but still, today you have to have RT, and it doesn't run well on AMD hardware.

Their RT stunt (which is mostly unnecessary) really bludgeoned AMD this gen.

My 6900xt is still a beast of a card for traditional raster stuff, but Nvidia successfully twisted the market such that it almost doesn't matter.

Well, hope springs eternal!

With a little luck, Crypto won't pick back up again any time soon, and since Nvidia is stuck with their TSMC production capacity, it removes their incentive to intentionally under-produce to drive up prices through supply reduction.

I'd probably be surprised if pricing is very reasonable, but I am hopeful we can at least get a $1,200 top end consumer card in the xx90/Titan class.

Titan class.
I'm hoping that we see a true Titan this time around. I've noticed that ever since Pascal that NV has been alternating different branding schemes. From Super to Ti to the return of x90 which to some extent replaced Titan. I don't believe any of us want a return of Super but it'd be nice to see a full product stack instead of multiple versions (i.e. 8/10/12 GB of the same GPU). The 3090/3090 Ti are impressive beasts but it'd be nice to see the king return. They could've teased an early ADA release with an Ampere Titan using a scaled-down ADA that surpassed the 3090 Ti. I think I remember reading a post from Igor W. that the 3090 Ti PCB could actually be used for some ADA.
