Early 3DMark tests for the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER have arrived courtesy of a hardware reviewer who was apparently able to purchase the GPU early.

I didn't expect it to be a ton faster than the 4080. If this was out late last year I would have gotten the 4080 super over the 7900xtx.. but now that I'm tinkering with Ai.. I like the 7900xtx more. ;)

iI just got s mail from ashop with a 4080 super TUF for 1449€

1-3% faster across the board. Outside of a sterile testing environment the average user would never see the difference. The only benefit this card has going for it is the price reduction.

Well yea if you had a 4070 or 4080 already I wouldn't bother with this one unless it was a straight trade.

I’m really toying with the idea of upgrading my 3080ti to a 4080 S as it’s over double the points per day in folding@home for less total power draw. It really depends on a question I can’t answer - when does the 5090 come out and how much will my 3080ti be worth when the 5000 series drops?

Well I seen rumours about a possible 4090 super or ti due to delay in 5000 series but take that with a wheelbarrow of salt.

I have a sure fire way to determine the release date of Blackwell:

If I buy a 4080 S, Blackwell will be released early Nov 2024.

If I wait for the 5090, Blackwell will be released at CES 2026

I'm hoping to get another 4-5 years out of the 3080 I picked up two and a half years ago.

I got about that long out of an AMD HD6970 (Cayman) and nVidia 980, so I hope this 3080 will do about the same.
