NVIDIA has announced that it is "unlaunching" the GeForce RTX 4080 (12 GB), its weakest model in the GeForce RTX 40 Series thus far.

According to this:
When nVidia "unlaunched" the 12GB "4080," this screwed over the AIB partners cuz they already printed boxes and flashed vUEFIs/vBIOSes with the name and such. These AIBs are now collecting their boxes and destroying or recycling them. nVidia is subsidizing (or partially subsidizing) the cost of printing new boxes, which is only fair since they're the ones who put the AIBs in this situation to begin with. Cards themselves and their coolers need to be re-branded with whatever new name nVidia comes up for them, and that change also needs to be reflected in the vUEFIs. It seems that the cards will possibly be rebranded as a 4070, maybe 4070 Ti, according to industry sources GN talked too. The price will also be reduced.

The price will also be reduced.
This should be interesting - wouldn't the AIB's have already purchased the chips from nVidia? I'm sure there's some after-the-fact wrangling that goes on there when price reductions and such go into effect, but still, that's a big rug to just pull out from under all your "partners". especially coming off the EVGA story
