NVIDIA Reportedly Launching New GeForce RTX 3080 with Additional Memory in January

NVIDIA will supposedly launch a new version of the GeForce RTX 3080 in January 2022 that features additional memory. This is according to sources with VideoCardz, which claim that the revised graphics card will utilize a GA102-220 GPU along with 12 GB of GDDR6X memory. This is 2 GB more than the current GeForce RTX 3080.



Per VideoCardz:



The GA102-220 GPU is not expected to feature a change to CUDA core count, however, this has not yet been confirmed. An upgrade to 12 GB memory will mean a requirement of a wider memory bus of 384-bit, increasing the maximum bandwidth in the process. However, this will depend on the memory speed, which has not been communicated to board partners yet.



Manufacturers are reportedly confused as to why NVIDIA is releasing another GeForce RTX 3080, which isn’t surprising considering green team’s plans for other models...
