Updated textures aren’t unusual for a video game remaster, but Insomniac Games may have taken things a bit too far. In a blog post detailing the improvements (e.g., ray-traced reflections) in Spider-Man Remastered, community director James Stevenson revealed that Peter Parker has been given a completely different face.



“In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker,” Stevenson said.



“We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and...

I know it's going to be censored, but that was a real ****ty thing to do. No other way of saying it.
 
Meh... 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
The new guy looks like as much of a Peter Parker as the old guy.
If anything, it's just a huge waste of money, it's not like this is going to improve the game in any meaningful way.
 
I like the change - Peter's always been a nerd and this new face model is definitely more nerdy.
 
I don't see the point of this unless it is some kind of contract dispute. Maybe the "cgi actor" from the original wanted more money for the remaster or something.
