Today, Intel announced that Jim Keller has resigned effective June 11, 2020, due to personal reasons. Intel appreciates Mr. Keller’s work over the past two years helping them continue advancing Intel’s product leadership and they wish him and his family all the best for the future. I remember this thread from back when Keller left AMD before Zen was ready for primetime, and lots of people suggested it was a bad sign. Turns out that wasn't the case at all.

I guess that is just his MO. He likes being the creator of the grand architecture, spends 2-3 years at a company creating his master design, but once he has completed it, he is happy to let the more junior team members mop up the tedium it takes to actually bring a product to market, while he moves on to his next grand vision.

Nah, this sounds different and bad. " Personal reasons" (hoping they are not real, and that all is well) is often used as bullshit lingo for I don't agree with the culture and management, but don't want to offend my employer and/ or burn the bridge completely.

Tracking his previous employments, this doesn't seem uncommon for him.
