IO Interactive, the developer behind the acclaimed Hitman franchise, has announced that it is delving into the world of super spies with Project 007: a new James Bond title that will tell the origin of the legendary British secret agent.

Details about the game are scarce, but judging by IO Interactive’s previous works, it’s sure to include plenty of stealth and espionage action. A teaser trailer also suggests that Project 007 will be a faithful undertaking that includes all of the franchise’s usual staples.

“It’s true that once in a while, the stars do align in our industry,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive. “Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON...

You can release DLC's with missions from the movies! It also needs seduction and gambling scenes and driving scenes to be a good bond game.

"can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities."

Who'd asked for this, though.

It's 200-year-old Bond - James Bond!

Seriously?!

Hollywood isn't the only one that has ran out of new ideas and has lost their vision for new / ORIGINAL IPs it seems.

Well jeez, that is like saying "it's good painting but it is no Mona Lisa".

Well it's true. Been a lot of "James Bond" games since Goldeneye and none of them have been as good. Granted those were handled by EA (after Goldeneye) so maybe IO can do what Rareware was able to accomplish.

Everything or Nothing was pretty excellent. I heard Bloodstone was good, but I never got a chance to try it before Activision pulled it from sale after losing the license.

It will never be as good as Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64.

Goldeneye will always have a special place in my heart. But it hasn't aged well if you have seen it lately. I think I read about some indie project to remaster it to HD.

Quantum of Solace (360) was actually a really good Bond game (done by Treyarch so it has a bit of a COD vibe to it). If you have an xbox it's probably still playable via backwards compat, I think maybe they made a PC version too but I don't see it on steam. The game covers Casino Royale and QoS movies but I don't remember how close the plot follows the movies. You could probably score a 360 copy on ebay for $5

edit - doesn't look like it's on the BC list for xbone. I take it the games have to be on the list to work? I don't have one...

I've emulated it a few times in the past year or so. Doesn't look all that great and the controller sucks, but it brings back lots of memories.

I played it again earlier this year with the mouse & keyboard mod. It made the game so much more enjoyable. The analog on the N64 was so bad.

I need to try that mod then. I emulate it with the Xbox 360 controller and I just can't get used to it.

Just be aware that it runs on a very old build of 1964, so it doesn't have clock accuracy and has some graphical glitches. In addition to proper mouse aiming it does also have proper widescreen and 60 FPS support, though. Ran fine on the PC in my sig. Be aware that even though it says Perfect Dark is supported that I could not get it working properly. I'll see if I can update this post with a link to the one I used since it seems there are several mods to the original that are floating around out there.
