Eight-core, 3.5 GHz Zen 2-based CPU! Custom RDNA 2 GPU capable of 10.28 TFLOPS! 16 GB of GDDR6! Most of us have read about the PlayStation 5’s hardware by now, but we’re still wondering – is it capable of running 4K games (that are more complicated than Pong or Space Invaders) at an appreciable frame rate? Apparently, it can.
Insomniac took to Twitter earlier today to announce that its new Spider-Man standalone spin-off, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, has an optional 4K/60 FPS “Performance Mode.” We have no idea how much worse the game will look in this mode, but this is a very cool benefit for Sony gamers who have gotten a taste of the PC gaming world and can’t cope with 30 FPS experiences much longer.
