A remake of Rayman, the 1995 platform game from Michel Ancel that was the first to introduce the franchise's magical world and titular, limbless protagonist, is currently in development under the codename "Project Steambot" at Ubisoft Milan, according to a new report.

Rayman Origins was a masterpiece. Rayman Legends was okay. All the old Rayman games are pretty neat. But I don't think we need more Rayman games. Although a remake of the first game would be interesting. Michel Ancel never finished BG&E 2, but in that time he gave us two more Rayman games (Origins and Legends), which was a better use of his talent and time anyways. If a remake of the first game achieves the heights that Rayman Origins achieved, then I'm down. And yeah, glad Ancel is a consultant, cuz it would be dumb to make a Rayman game without the series' creator.
