Resident Evil 5 may have launched on Steam over a decade ago, but it appears that Capcom hasn't completely forgotten about the 2009 survival horror title yet. According to a new Steam update, the Steam version of RE5 has received a surprise patch, one that removes Games for Windows – Live, adds support for local split-screen co-op, and fixes some minor, although unspecified, bugs. Officially discontinued in 2014, Games for Windows – Live was an online gaming service that attempted to bridge Windows games with Microsoft's Live service, implementing popular features that include Gamertags. Other games that have dropped GFWL include Dark Souls, BioShock 2, and Fallout 3.
