Constantin Film has confirmed that work is officially underway on a reboot of the Resident Evil movie franchise. Unlike Paul Anderson’s films (which had less to do about the games and more about his wife, Milla Jovovich), the reboot will take place in Raccoon City and attempt to faithfully adapt Capcom’s original survival-horror hits, Resident Evil (1996) and Resident Evil 2 (1998).

“With this film, I really wanted to go back to the original, first two games and the associated terrifying experience that I had when I first played them,” said director and screenwriter Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down). “And at the same time, I’m...

Ah, yes, pick the mixed race actors to fulfill the now de facto diversity quota. This stuff doesn't really bother me anymore, to be honest. As long as the actors are good. And both of them are, in my opinion. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing more of Hannah John-Kamen 😍

I think Ava will be able to look close to Leon aside from the hair color. Hannah, not so much.

This is Ava in a film called Paper Year:

The rest of the cast looks great. And Johannes Roberts has a pretty good track record of horror and thriller movies. So I actually feel pretty good about this one.

I'm not sure a totally faithful adaptation of the games will work 100% in film form. It rarely does.

Mortal Kombat, for the longest time stood as the best film adaptation of a video game ever made.

Sure why not. Who doesn't love Highlander as Raiden. One thing MK had for sure was a kick *** soundtrack for the day... I have it on the USB drive in my car.... "And now for a taste of things to come...."

I didn't say it was a great movie. I simply said it stood as the best video game to film adaptation for quite some time. The bar for that is extremely low.

I still think it holds up as one of the best. My only real issue with it was it not being violent enough in the least. Like is so often the case, this game that would have been rated 'M' from the ESRB back in the day should have equally been rated 'R' as a movie.

I just really loved that the flashlights always made a "shwoosh" sound as they panned across the screen. And yeah, Highlander was awesome.

Probably my favorite video game movie. It was just fun so long as you didn't try to take it too seriously. Just like the game.

And loose 90% of your target audience? You are now wrong though.
