Resident Evil Reboot Coming to Theaters Labor Day Weekend

Deadline has confirmed that Constantin Film’s Resident Evil reboot is set for release on September 3 during Labor Day weekend. The new live-action adaptation, which was helmed by up and coming director/writer Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), will attempt to wash its hands clean of Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich’s long-running series of critically maligned films by introducing a new cast and story that will follow Capcom’s original survival horror classics more closely. While the filmmakers have remained mum on specific plot points, the reboot is expected to include at least of handful of events that transpired in Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2.
