Valve has officially announced its winners for the 2021 Steam Awards.

Sitting in the premier category is the eighth mainline installment of Capcom’s best-selling survival horror franchise, Resident Evil Village, which beat out the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 5 for the coveted Game of the Year award. Those titles still managed to score awards of their own, however, with Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 5 having won in the Outstanding Story-Rich Game and Outstanding Visual Style categories, respectively.

I admit I love this game but I'm not sure if I'd call it game of the year but then I can't really think of one that I would either. The only part of the game I didn't like is the factory level. Just brings back too many memories of back tracking in Alien Isolation and Dead Space. Other than that though, I really enjoyed it and the new scenery and visuals. A truly awesome winter/Halloween type of game.

I feel Marvel's GOTG should've gotten more than best sound track although it is pretty good. I've had a huge amount of fun with it but then again I'm a big fan of the movies too. No exaggeration, I started a 2nd playthrough less than an hour after finishing it the 1st time just so I could work on finding some more of the costumes. Not saying the game is perfect, they used plenty of visual shortcuts to help keep the FPS up there but these days I'm happy with a few compromises here and there to enjoy both IQ and FPS at 4K. I'm pacing it now so I can focus more on CB2077 and on that note . . .

Glad to see CB2077 has been getting a lot of positive press recently despite that infamous launch. Even after all that I've been reading good things in many places in recent weeks. I finally just started playing it last week and I'm having a lot of fun with it. The game is still friggin' demanding as anything and needs a few tweaks for 60+ FPS on a 3090 but even then it looks great. I'm getting 70-90 in many areas with dips around 58 FPS.

I also feel that the Enhanced Metro Exodus should've gotten some kind of mention. I was reading a review on it from a few days ago from a site where they just finished their 1st play through of it. The DLSS 2.0 was a bit of a game changer for those who've got the hardware to support it. I've done about a dozen play throughs of that game since release and did another with the Enhanced version. It was awesome.

Crysis trilogy remasters, well it's obvious why they didn't come up on a Steam list but when the EGS limit is up I strongly recommend the 2nd game now. It was always my least favorite but somehow now it feels so fresh and improved that it's almost like a new game.

SOTTR and ROTTR DLSS 2.0 patches. Ironically had to use the beta channel to get these running but worth it so I can play SOTTR on my CRG9 in 5120x2160 with all the hardware acceleration that RTX 3090 can throw at it now. Holding around 80-100 FPS at that resolution with RT maxed, DLSS on quality, and that extra real estate really looks awesome. Looking forward to going back and doing another play through of this down the road but I've already done many since its release as well. ROTTR is improved but it that was more like sprinkles on top of the cake, same with Crysis 3.
