AMD's latest 19.7.1 drivers aren't a good match for the Radeon RX 590. That's according to PC Gamer, which tested the previous package (19.5.2) against the newest release and found reduced performance in many of today's most popular games. The degradation is as high as 10 percent or worse.

Some believe AMD is gimping older Radeon cards with newer drivers. The author was a little more positive, suggesting this could mean a 5 to 10 percent improvement for RX 5700 series cards in the next release.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey runs 5 to 15 percent faster, Forza Horizon 4 is 12 to 23 percent faster, Hitman 2 is 8 to 19 percent faster, and Warhammer 2 is up to 12 percent faster. Of the tested games, only Shadow of the Tomb Raider shows incrementally better performance (2 percent faster) with the newer 19.7.1 drivers.

Perhaps it is a regression bug, people just love jumping to conclusions.

well .. the increase in performance for the new 5700 series cards is nice (I have an RX 5700 on the way)

What happened to fine wine? New drivers are not supposed to drop performance. What the ****.

Let's display a POSITIVE percentage value to indicate that the NEW driver is SLOWER than the OLD driver. Nucking Futs.
